DM: Based on your lessons, you think it is theoretically possible to remove the artifacts in such a way that all the magic is safely released back into the world. But this is a LOT of magic, at a very high rate of flow. It would be all too easy to mess something up and cause a chain reaction that detonates the catacombs and the entire school above.
