Clarissa Clarity was a Unicorn born to two Unicorn parents. While she certainly wasn't as rich as Diamond Tiara, she wasn't poor, but her parents didn't have as many bits as they would like. They had a roof over their heads, food to eat, and Clarissa could be sent to school. That was enough for her and her parents.

As a filly, Clarissa was loved and adored by her parents. She was a sweet kid, with an obsession of Alicorns and a love for playing tag. In school, she had a few close friends, and often found herself eager to go out into the school yard to play instead of sit inside the school house and learn about Cutie Marks and basic maths. The only subject Clairy really enjoyed was reading. She read a lot of books at home, due to her studying of spells from her parents old books.

Unfortunately, her tail had to be cut when she was little due to the school bully sticking some gum in it. Her mother remembers the poor filly bawling about her beautiful tail being cut, even though she insisted it would grow back. Though Clarissa actually came to enjoy her short tail, and ended up having it trimmed to keep it that length. As she got older, she did grow it back out.

Clarissa loved to tail her mother when she went to the market, and loved to help her cook in the kitchen. Her favorite meal was the carrot soup her mother would make during the cold winters, and it was a wonderful smell to greet her after the Winter Wrap Up assistance with her father.

Of course, as Clarissa got older, she did become a bit shy around others. Her lack of a Cutie Mark earned her some bullying around the school yard, and she had a habit of tucking her tail over her flank around other ponies. Mainly the school yard bullies and ponies she didn't know.
