Story time! I haven’t done one in a while, and I wanted to draw Riptide again!
___
”But… I can’t swim.” Riptide said, nervously, looking down at the blue waves. “What it I drown?” His mom smiled. “You won’t, kid. Trust me.” The orange Pegasus patted his pack. Riptide still looked nervous. He dipped his claw in the water. Then, a shriek pierced his ears. He looked up at the sky. His father, Terramar flew down and landed in the sand, sending dust towards them. “Hey, Scoots!” He said, shaking the sand off him, and trotting to them. “Dad!” Riptide exclaimed, hugging his father’s leg. “Riptide, my boy!” He said, hugging him back. Scootaloo brushed her wing against her husband, with a flirty expression. “What have you been up to?” Scootaloo asked. “Oh nothing much. Just getting my son his own necklace!” Terramar said, taking out a necklace like his.
“Wow! This is mine? To keep?” Riptide asked. “You bet, kid!” Scootaloo said. Terramar placed the necklace around Riptides neck. “Now you can swim!” Scootaloo said. “Really? Wow!” Riptide said. “But what about you?” he asked his mother. “Nah, I’ll be fine. Your dad’s necklace has enough magic for the both of us.”
“Try it out, son!” Terramar said. Riptide stood at the edge of the cliff. He took a deep breath and jumped into the deep. When he open his eyes, he was a whole different form. His talons turned into fins, his mane was a soft and rubbery, his feathered wings were fins, too. Not to mention HIS WHOLE BACK LEGS WERE GONE. His parent’s slashed in after. “How do you like it, Riptide?” Scootaloo asked. She was different too. “Weird…” he replied. “Go on, son,” Terramar said. He was in his sea pony form. “Give those flippers a try!”
Riptide tried kicking. Well, he could exactly kick, since he didn’t have his legs. But his tail fin waved, and he was sent speeding through the water. At first it was scary. But then he let the current take him and it felt amazing. “WooHoo!” He exclaimed. “I love being a sea pony!” He said, happily.
The family swam together for the rest of the night, dodging waves, jumping in and out, and most of all: having fun together.
I forgot how fun it was to do story times. I should so more in the future :>
