Luster Dawn and Opaline (AU or rewrite or headcanon or something)

- Luster Dawn falls in a battle vs Opaline, which is why she is absent in g5 and not even mentioned. Opaline killed her and didn't find it relevant enough to bring up during g5 ig.
- I think maybe Twilight was trying to follow in Celestia's footsteps too closely in entrusting Luster Dawn with dealing with Opaline before she was ready. I think she might have even rushed her Alicorn ascension far before she could handle it. Or maybe Luster did have what it took to earn becoming an Alicorn, but maybe even that wasn't enough.
- Twilight had initially underestimated Opaline and overestimated Luster's abilities. By the time she's realized her error, it's too late.
- Even though Luster Dawn was show to have made some friends, I think she was alone when she died. Either due to her friends being delt with already or due to Luster choosing to fight Opaline alone in order to protect them (which would prove to be a grave mistake). Im guessing probably the latter bc if something had already happened to Luster's friends then I doubt Twilight wouldn't have seen the gravity of the situation yet. Maybe things could have gone differently had she been with her friends, but maybe not.
- Luster Dawn dies and Twilight goes into overcorrection mode. Creating the Unity Crystals and the Dragon Stone, causing the dragon hibernation and casting the protection spell.
- I hope this idea helps give Luster Dawn more relevance and impact in the overall story of mlp g4-g5 while also explaining her absence in g5. Since prior to this Luster Dawn literally appeared in the very last episode of g4 and never had any importance in mlp afterwards without any real explanation or closure. Unfortunately this impact comes at the cost of her life.
- I guess in a way, Luster Dawn is the failed version of Sunny Starscout. Where one failed, the other succeeded. Probably because their approach was different? Or maybe something even to do with friendship.
