The partial turnaround of my TYT Luster Dawn design.

Luster is tragically the third wheel in her own life. When she enrolled in Twilight's school all those years ago she'd never expect to end up being where is. She just wanted to be a good sorceress and maybe even reach the same power or status as her mentor someday. But the suggestion to make friends has made everything spiral.

Though she found friends of her own, learned about friendship as her mentor suggested, harnessed her skills in magic, and even earned a friend in a high place through Flurry Heart, it wasn't enough. It wasn't enough to protect her friends. It wasn't enough to stop Opaline.

She was afraid, much like Flurry Heart. Though Radiant Hope, Flurry's advisor, suggested other options and begged them to ask Twilight for help, they agreed she couldn't save them. And the end, she agreed to be placed in suspended animation alongside Cozy to hide the crystal heart and keep it safe from Opaline's grasp.

Now it's an untold amount of time later and everything she knew is gone. She's free now and the world is safe, but she's lost everything and has so little left. And maybe she wouldn't have lost so much had she not listened to Twilight. She knows how her mentor feels, but she also can't help but blame her for neither of them being "enough" to strike Opaline down. Maybe if she studied more and gotten stronger instead of focusing on friendship. The fate of Equestria clearly didn't rest on her making friends.

Maybe she'll relearn to hope again and earn her happiness back. Or maybe she'll only worsen. Only time will tell
