Daring Do Adventure Logs #53 — Norheim Underground
"The island of Norheim, known to many as one of the worst places to live on Epona, is as bad as I've heard. 'Tartarus frozen over' is an apt description for sure, and it would seem all the nasty tales I've heard about this place are true. I've nearly died once in my stay here already, twice if you count a near-miss with a slow, lonely death in an inescapable pit I nearly found myself in earlier today.
While the overground is plagued with its characteristic snow storms and unrelenting wind, the underside of Norheim tends to be much calmer. No warmer, though. There doesn't seem to be any source of warmth to this place, even with an active maga* chamber resting beneath one of the volcanoes. The snow is replaced with ice, onto which even my specially designed boots can't hold for very long. If I slip and fall in here, then I have a feeling I'll be dead; the frozen air isn't good on my wings.
This is my first night in the ice caverns of Norheim. Here's hoping I get a second."
*"Maga" is my name for Epona's magical equivalent to magma. Instead of melting you, it overloads your magic circuits and literally causes you to explode. Yeah.
