The Land
"The equine, an Alicorn. A caretaker, the youngest I have yet seen, soon to be surpassed by the next. She arrived before me one day, bearing a garb of her own design. Beautiful, colourful, flowing dress, unlike the rugged earth and much more akin to the constantly changing seasons. I liked it.

The caretakers zipped to and fro. Appear, bow, disappear. Appear, wait, die. They did not have the time to sit before me and share in the gentle rumblings of the earth below, but this one was different. This one was an Alicorn. She stood before me, silently declining all offers of food and water as the grass grew and died and slowly piled up around her hooves. The Alicorns were not like the ponies. They shared no connection to the earth and could not stand upon clouds without the use of spells, yet this one was trying. She was trying to understand me, to listen to the creaking, old rocks and the sliding dirt, and she was patient. I liked her.

Time was kind to us. She was the first in so many eons to have taken the time to truly connect with me, the being they called The Land. She aged quicker than me, as all things do, but slow enough that she could perceive my movements, my thoughts and my heartbeat. She was wonderful.

She died like all the rest. Old and weak, but with a smile on her face. Time waits for some, but it never forgets them…"
