So someone pointed out how the positioning there made it look like there was a heart-shape between them, and after testing, lo and behold, they were right.
Not only that, but as someone else pointed it out to me specifically, the position here is heavily reminiscent to that of Korra and Asami in the ending of Legend of Korra, as they were confirmed a couple.
Suffice to say, I know Hasbro probably can't have them kiss on screen or tell each other "I love you" without getting more backlash than they're willing to deal with at this point, but between all this, and all the blushing and meaningful looks shared in this episode…

…then at this point, if you're still gonna claim they are just friends, you're just in denial about the obvious fact that Hasbro is trying to present them as a couple as much as they can get away with without making it explicit.
