I remember watching "A Very Minty Christmas" all the time when I was about 3-4, and it's still a bit of a guilty pleasure for me. I think the main reason is just nostalgia, but I think Minty herself also helped a bit. She was probably the only G3 pony with more than one character trait, and she was just more enjoyable to watch than the other characters. So it only made sense to give her a G4 redesign. I know she already appeared in "Friendship is Magic", but I wouldn't even count that as a redesign, since she was literally just an Applejack recolor. Now on to the explanation!

At first, I didn't really know what to DO with her. I was originally going to build on her original personality, but she just ended up with a Ditzy sort of thing, so I scrapped it. I wanted to include her love of socks in the design, as well as give a messy, frizzy hairstyle to reflect on how much she doesn't care about what ponies think of her. Suddenly, it hit me like a truck. After adding a headband and adjusting her cutie mark, I got a peppy aerobics instructor! The Minty I came up with is the type of pony who approaches everything in life with an upbeat, can-do attitude. Her full name is Peppermint, but since she loves her nickname, it's what ponies usually call her. She's full of energy and enthusiasm about nearly everything she does. She works at the gym as an aerobics instructor, and she takes a lot of pride in helping other ponies get fit. And of course, she has a huge collection of socks, and sometimes likes to wear them mismatched. She's basically a mix of Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash with a bit more eccentricity thrown in.
