Page 1197 — Wild Style

The map of Mane 6 to Student 6 went through a few iterations before I landed on this one. Pinkie Pie was my lazy first pick for Yona. Rainbow Dash playing Smolder. Fluttershy for Ocellus. But Gallus, Silverstream, and Sandbar required more thought, and so the map changed.

Transcript:

Twilight Sparkle: Hmm… changelings…
DM: Ah, yes, the insect ponies that feed on love. The Hive recently deposed their tyrannical ruler, and–
Twilight Sparkle: I can read the specifics of the lore later. I was just wondering about the limitations of Change Appearance in this pony world.
DM: I see. Most young changelings – which would include you – can only duplicate the appearance of other medium-sized quadrupeds they've seen before. Anything more complex requires years of practice and experience.
Twilight Sparkle: But…
DM: …Yes?
Twilight Sparkle: If I was a changeling Druid…
DM: Umm… Well, Wild Shape has some pretty strict rules about exactly what kinds of shenanigans you can get up to with it… But yes, you would potentially be able to transform into many people AND beasts with that combo.
Twilight Sparkle: I have made my decision!
DM: Of course you have.
