Behold, the villains of Season 9, as the number SHOULD have been, with Sombra, The Pony of Shadows, and even The Storm King returning. All to give creation to the antithesis of Twilight Sparkle/Dusk Shine's little Mane Six team, using the power of The Darkness. Though i'm sure some details might be a little over some folks heads….including how this is technically a spoiler for the finale.
But who cares, really? The last 3 episodes are out, both officially and unofficially. So it's only a matter of time until everyone sees it…not that it matters, seeing as how i know many will be disappointed with how it goes. Hence I why I decided to do my own take on the season.
Either way, I felt it was only right to show the insidious villains in their ultimate, Titan forms that will eventually be bestowed upon them through The Emperor of Darkness' Bewitching Bell. Now, let's get a little bit of context in this business. Starting with everyone's favorite big bads, together:
Lord Tirek aka Emperor Grogar: Indeed, as is implied by the addition: both Tirek and Grogar in my redux are going to be one in the same by the time the finale arrives. How, you may be wondering? Because in my story, Grogar IS real…….but not the Grogar who gathered the villains together. No, the REAL Grogar has been working in the shadows for eons. Imprisoned in the multiversal hell of ALL realities: The Realm of Darkness. Since his bewitching bell was stolen, The Emperor of Darkness and All-Father of Monsters had been sealed in The Realm of Darkness through his dark fortress of Tambelon (which was indeed once a city until he annihilated it in another lifetime), and as a result turned it into a nightmarish landmark known to the ancients as "The Well of Souls" — exactly like The Mountain of Malefor, as a matter of fact. And in that time, he's been sending his influence into Equestria, corrupting the susceptible, and harnessing their darkness to become his host.
Much like the angels and demons of Supernatural, combined with the Klyntars of Marvel Comics, Grogar is a divine entity who embodies Darkness, and Destruction, just as his counterpart, Laurana, embodies Harmony, and Creation. Both, however, can't actually enter the mortal realm in their true forms without destroying everything around them simply by existing. So, they merge with individuals who hold the amount of Light and Dark needed respectively to house them. Thus, both figures (god and host) become an individual of omnipotent power. A God in living flesh. Though one that requires an anchor in the physical plane to ensure the Gods aren't banished back to the spirit realm. As I said, they can enter Equestria in their true forms, but only at the cost of their presence annihilating everything. So they created artifacts of immense power to bind them to the mortal world, and fuse them with their host. For Laurana, it is The Rainbow of Light in all its differing forms. For Grogar, it's his Bewitching Bell. And let's just say, not only does the merging become permanent after a short while, but IF their artifacts are forcibly removed from either, their physical host bodies will burn out, die, and cast them back into the Spirit Realm until they can find a new host. What's more is that any fusion made with an incompatible host ends up driving the Gods insane because of the mental effects of the host affecting their symbiotic god-beings mind, as well.
A contribution to Grogar's corruption, and his eventual taking OF said name, which actually means "Dark Inheritance".
You can obviously see where i'm going with this. At some point, Tirek comes into contact with the REAL Grogar, connects with him, and begins working to set him free and merge with him. Eventually, he succeeds, and Lord Tirek becomes the Emperor Grogar of the modern era of Generation Four. Though not before making a copy of himself in order to use the centaur's own abilities, even with the original's metamorphosis. You could say they're not only the Unalaq and Vaatu of the series, but also the Zamasu of the series, seeing as how the pair work in perfect unison to lead The Legion of Doom. And with the power the Bell already holds in it from the dark one's time harvesting magic, and souls, which is an attribute of the bell's power to stockpile magic even if it leaves the relic, thus adding the strength of others unto itself, like One For All, Grogar's current form is even more powerful than anything previous, and even greater than Laurana and her Elements of Harmony……or at least her chosen wielders of harmony. In other words, this is a Tirek AND Grogar you do not want to mess with.
Especially when they work in such perfect, ironic harmony together.
The Legion of Doom
Empress Chrysalis: A fitting title, seeing as how she, and all the other villains, share in Grogar's godly power. Because of just how much power it holds, the Bell doesn't merely augment the others aside from Tirek: it evolves them. Physically ascends them to the highest form of power in their world. Chrysalis thus is made into a creature akin to an enhanced, changeling version of an alicorn. One whose speed, strength, AND magical power is increased ten fold. She can even shapeshift into multiple creatures at once, becoming a one-mare army. Maybe if she weren't obsessed with revenge, she could probably rebuild her own hive as a single, hive mind, with her as the whole. But instead, she'll use this newfound power to dominate equestria with her allies. That will be the day when love will be conquered with light.
Storm Monger: What better name for a King who ascends above such meager power, and becomes a true force of nature, capable of unleashing such terribly, war-raging fury upon all he sees? A warmonger with the power of the storm at his command is no force to trifle with. And the Storm King certainly will enjoy his enhanced state as he's much bigger, and far stronger than any of his old Yet Soldiers, back when they were all alive……and before they were made into undead slaves. Now, The Storm Monger holds the power of Thunder, and Lightning in his "hand", and can summon the elements of the heavens themselves to terrorize all in his way. And I can assure everyone that he has quite the bone to pick with a certain, broken-horned mare who betrayed, and 'killed' him few years ago.
Cozycorn: Not much to say for Cozy Glow. The enhancements received ascended her to the highest form a pony of equestria can assume. But she seems even more powerful than an average Alicorn. Perhaps it has to do with her age, as Flurry Heart demonstrated how immensely powerful she is even as a foal. And unfortunately, Cozy has the know-how intelligence to control her abilities, and put them to bad use. One especial ability given to her by Tirek/Emperor Grogar personally, though, was the ability to open portals to different locations at will. Only the highest level magic users can perform this ability, but as an alicorn bestowed with a portion of the Emperor's power, which is still incredibly high, it's as easy as putting others on a chess board in check. Now, of course, comes the time when she puts her enemies in checkmate.
Shadowlord Sombra: The pinnacle of Umbra/Pony evolution, by all accounts. And much like Erebus, The Pony of Shadows, the Umbrum are actually the legitimate offspring of Emperor Grogar. His children of the Darkness, if you will. Of course, Sombra was born eons after this, so he's more of a distant relative. And yet, it allows the All-Father's wicked magic to coincide his own essence to ascend him to the full, evolutionary perfection a pony-umbrum hybrid can achieve. Since he's half pony, his umbrum half is able to interact with the alicorn power to produce a form that even surpasses the original Pony of Shadows. Now, Sombra has become more than a mere king of shadows: he has become a LORD of the shadows. A walking, living plague of darkness, spreading his cursed crystal presence across the land as he makes his way to the empire. And in this form, it'll take far more than the Crystal Heart to defeat him. For he is above mere shadow, and pony. He is corruption. He is power. He is tyranny, and subjugation. He is the Shadowlord, and he will have his revenge.
Erebus, The Pony of Shadow and Flame: What do you get when you empower a construct of pure darkness with the essence of its creator? Ultimately, what amounts to a fallen angel, or rather a Demon in Equestria. Much like the symbiotic Venom, Erebus harbors great hatred, and resentment for his original host for rejecting him, and abandoning him. He was created for the sole purpose of making the unicorn pipsqueak strong, and surpass his traitorous 'friends' who turned on him the moment they suspected him of betrayal, themselves. He was there for him when nopony else was, and after eternity in Limbo, he abandons his dark partner to the confines of that endless abyss once again. It was only by the pseudo Grogar's will that he not only be released, but given full autonomy in order to no longer rely on a meek, and easily manipulated host. A burning hatred in the empty pit where Erebus' heart should have been, ignited by the power of the Emperor, himself. Now, Erebus has ascended to even greater levels of power that Darkness has to offer. Now, he is wrath incarnate. ANd all who impede on his revenge, and mission to shroud the world in darkness…… WILL BURN!!!
And that about wraps it up. Hope you all like it. Enjoy, and have a nice day, or night depending on where you live.
