I would say this episode was a pretty good end to BigMac's story line. (Im sure plenty of people wanted him to wind-up with somepony different (cough cough, Marble)….). But I think Mac and Sugar Belle make a wonderful couple anyway
This episode just made me smile so much. The arrangement of the story for the different POV'S was a bit confusing, but the story was pretty good. I just felt so happy for Big Mac and Sugar Belle, that they both wound up so happy. And the CMC and Discord were both entertaining as usual
What really caught me by surprise was the casual "Star Trek" references by Granny Smith toward the end. I felt that the scene had more meaning than just casual reference material. As crazy as i sounds, i think the writers put those Star Trek jokes in there as a sort-of reminder of the power of fandom's.
The "Star Trek" fandom founded itself back in the 60's, before internet or deeply-connected ties to other fandom members. I know people who are "original Trekies", and they have told me of how the StarTrek fandom stayed alive and strong thru over 50 years of tv, movies, specials and cancellations, and it still remains to this day. Maybe not as strong as in its hayday, but still alive and engaging for its fans.
So i cant help but think that this small scene by Granny was in some way a reminder to the Brony fandom that the end is never really the end for a show, with enough fan-support behind it
What did y'all think of the episode? Was it a satisfying end for Big Mac?
