Artist's description from DA:
Here's another prickly animal we all know and love. Porcupines are among the prickliest of animals, as these rodents have razor-sharp, barbed quills which can detach from them, unlike the spines on echidnas. There are at least three species of porcupines I can think of: the North American porcupine (which we see here) of North America, the prehensile-tailed porcupine of South America, and the cape porcupine of Africa. You may not know this, but there are actually two families of porcupines — the terrestrial Old World porcupines of family Hystricidae, and the arboreal New World porcupines of family Erethizontidae. Regardless of what family they're from, all porcupines have one thing in common — they're all loaded with quills! Not to mention they're really adorable. Although they cannot be kept as pets, people have taken them in now and then, usually for educational or rehabilitation purposes, and they're starting to become popular, like internet sensation, Teddy Bear the talking porcupine, who would make adorable grunts and chatters like an Ewok whenever he's fed. Another thing to know about handling or petting porcupines is to always wear gloves and pet them from their heads to their backs, but never in reverse; for the North American species, their quills are located at their rear and tail.

As mentioned in my hedgehog submission, I came across concept art of both the hedgies and the porcupines. To be honest though, I wanted to make just the porcupines initially. These rodents aren't exactly the cuddliest animals ever, but they're very cute and, thanks to Teddy Bear the porcupine, I really hoped on making vectors of them. I'm really glad I found a full body reference of them to vectorize. Of course, after I found the concept art of the hedgehogs, I decided to make vectors of them as well. Two types of prickly animals to vectorize. Nice! Now if only they featured echidnas.
