Type 37 'Gladius' Charged Plasma Dispersal System

Classification: Assault Rifle
Range: 500-600 meters
Ammunition: Magicite Plasma Battery
Ammunition Capacity: 50 shots
Fire Modes: Semi-Auto, Full Auto
Materials Used in Manufacturing: Auratanium
Manufacturer: Sunstar Armaments

Background:

Ever since the accidental discovery of Auratanium by Princess Twilight Sparkle during an experiment, a form of programmable matter, the technology of Equestria and the whole world had been advanced by decades, if not, centuries. With both civil and military applications explored, many companies throughout Equestria vied for contracts to manufacture a standard-issue rifle for the Equestrian Armed Forces. Ultimately, through Defense Minister Azure Glide's decision, Vanhoover-based Sunstar Armaments won out with their design: The Type-37.

Using charged hard plasma, stored in magazine-like batteries, the design of the weapon was made to be lightweight while making as few cutbacks to power and performance for both open and closed environments. It had earned the affectionate nickname of 'Gladius' by EAF soldiers due to its usefulness and versatility, akin to the bladed weapons of old. The prior introduction of the AEGIS Nanotech Armor System has made the weapon's method of operation a trivial matter.

While the magazine capacity and lightweight nature has been an advantage, the heat management system has proved to be a little underwhelming.

Equestrian MoD Iron Wingheart's Comments:

"My father made the right decision to select this as the weapon for our infantry. Lightweight, among other things, has helped prove this weapon's usefulness during the Thracian War. Whether it be open area or urban combat, this weapon is perhaps one of the greatest modern weapons ever designed. I do see it as being a little rough around the edges, especially with heat management. Otherwise, this is a reliable weapon. Constant improvements will make it even better."
