There was supposed to be a pride parade in my city this weekend, but that was obviously cancelled. I probably wouldn't have gone anyways, as I don't know anyone to go with and am too afraid of social situations to go by myself, but it's still a bit of a bummer. I mean, I think it's definently the right call, but that doesn't stop feelings.
Anyway, I can still draw some stuff for pride If it's the third year in a row I do it, does that make it a tradition? Either way, have some Northen Skies and Lightning Strike, enjoying the finale at the Equestrian equivalent of a pride parade.
Now, I'd like to imagine that Equestria is better than our world, and being lgbtq+ isn't something that they bat an eye at …but I can also imagine that it wasn't always the case, and so they do still have some version of a pride holiday or event, which nowadays is mainly as a way to remember the history… and because they just like having an excuse to party. If the holidays and events in the show is anything to go by, ponies really like to celebrate. So everypony is decked out in rainbows, there's parades and airshows -and recently, ever since a certain rainbow themed wonderbolt started being able to do it on command, a Sonic Rainboom as the big finale.
It's been a while since Light has been to a large pride event like this, as he's been stationed at Equestria's border for a while, so he decided to go all out. Most pegasi find bright and flashy colors very attractive, so he threw himself at the excuse of dyeing his tail and feathers as colorful as he could. He's also wearing makeup and hoof-polish, as well as about a bucket of glitter. Gotta do what you can to stand out and look flashy when your coat and mane is grey and grey.
North isn't from Equestria though, so this is his first pride event -they probably have something similar in his country, but celebrate it quite differently. Chiropterasi value the night and being able to blend in quite a lot, so decking themselves out in rainbows isn't quite something they'd do. That's why I gave North a moon-symbol on his cheek, as a standin for whatever symbols his country would have for lgbtq+ identities. He didn't quite want to dye his tail or mane, but still wanted to be rainbow-y to fit in; so he chose to wear a ribbon and do just dye his ear tufts, which he can just cut of if he wants to get rid of the colors. He's also wearing hoof-polish, curtesy of Light, but chose the colors of the pan flag rather than the bi one like Light has. He's still a bit confused on the Equestrian definitions of orientations, but felt that pan probably fit him best, just based on Light's explanation. Oh, and he's also wearing glitter. He didn't mean to wear any glitter, but Light kinda… sheds it wherever he goes.
This particular scene takes place right when North is starting to wonder why Light is so insistent that they wait on the hill in a park -the festivities is starting to wind down, and his hooves are getting really sore at this point. But no. They can't go home, they have to wait there, for some reason.
Light is not only acting weird, but also talking weird -bringing up conversations they had years ago, when they were arguing about whether feats such as the Thunder Gallop or Sonic Rainboom actually has happend or if they were just old mare's tales. Light had seemed to think they could be real, but North was and is still convinced it's just ponies telling stories to ponies who told them on until the story became legend. Pegasi might be faster fliers than Chiropterasi, but even they can't fly faster than magic.
Light, who's purposefully kept North from finding out what the finale was, kinda wishes he'd had the forethought of renting a camera. Who knew the expression of absolute shock could look so cute?
