Here is a little flying animation of the felt Scootaloo I made.
For the record, I think it is a good thing that the makers of MLP did not decide to let her fly in the final season. At an earlier time a first flight moment could have made for a great moment, but then again we have many other moments already of characters reaching their life goals. By the final season Scootaloo's inability to fly had been very established and a "last minute fix" might have left a somewhat shallow feeling. The way it is Scootaloo is an inspiration for everyone with a disability that won't magically disappear. Unlike in case of her parents, her remaining unable to fly does not leave any nagging questions and Rainbow Dash put it very well by saying:
"Listen, Scootaloo. Maybe you'll fly someday, or maybe you won't. You're all kinds of awesome anyway. Who's the toughest little pony in town?"
That being said, I still wanted to make this little animation to see if it would work out. Given the previous images maybe this is just another beautiful dream Luna is providing Scootaloo with.
For all Scootaloo fans out there I would like to give a little shoutout about two beautiful ongoing online comics which address the matter of Scotaloo's inability to fly. I am following both comics with great interest and I'm sure many of you will love them too.
There is Talisman for a Pony by Sirzi by Sirzi
It has great art great dialogue and humor and I am very much looking forward to see the story continuing.
And there is Paper Wings by Pony-Berserker
This one started only recently and is so far on page 3, but already I am hooked and and looking forward to see this story by one of our fandom's most diligent and recognizable artists continue.
