Ok so these two were childhood friends and the 100 years thing was a joke about Stygian not being immortal. Context over.
Also I wrote this in like five minutes so it flows awfully and the characterisation is super off.

“Stygian?” A bored looking royal guard approached the cloaked unicorn, a clipboard hovering a few inches away.
“Y-yes?”
“The Princess will see you now.”
He was in trouble, wasn’t he? He had to be in trouble. Why else would the sovereign ruler of the country he’d just tried to destroy summon him immediately to Canterlot? Stygian bowed quickly, his horn nearly touching the floor. “Your majesty. You wanted to see me?”
“No need for that, Styg.” Celestia approached him with a smile. “A crown doesn’t mean we’re not friends anymore.” She helped him up.
“Oh. I- um… I thought-“ He trailed off.
“Come, sit.”
He did, albeit rather awkwardly. “You’ve aged well.” Stygian said, not quite thinking. Before he could redact his statement and insist he banish himself from Equestria, he was interrupted by Celestia’s familiar laugh.
“You too.”
They sat in silence. With every moment, Stygian could feel his face become redder. He wasn’t just making small talk- Celestia really did look beautiful. Just like he remembered her.
Finally, he spoke. “What is this about?”
Celestia smiled. Stygian detected a slight sadness in it, but brushed it off. “I’ve missed you, Stygian. I was so happy Twilight and Starlight did the right thing- especially since it means we can be friends again. Or…” She inched closer.
Stygian inched back, mad at himself for doing so.
“Remember the promise?”
Remember the promise? Of course he did! It was one of the only things he could remember from those days. Stygian nodded slowly. “Just to be sure, the one where we agreed to get married if we didn’t by the age of 100?”
“Marry me.”
“What?”
She cleared her throat and stood up, puffing out her wings. “I, PRINCESS CELESTIA OF EQUESTRIA AM PROPOSING THAT YOU, STYGIAN NYX OF CANTERLOT, MARRY ME.” Celestia laughed. The royal Canterlot voice sure made Stygian uncomfortable, wether it be for the pain in his ears or the fact that the whole city now knew of the strange arrangement.
“Yes.”
