Got some Next Gen design concepts that I've been holding onto that I wanna share~
These are my ideas for the Next Generation of MLP taking place after the events of the show. Please note there are a lot of my head-canons and some of my personal ships/preferred ships. Please be respectful of my opinions :) (Smile) Additionally, I am not at all caught up with the current seasons at this time so there won't be references to them until I watch the episodes!

This is so old that I am not entirely convinced I haven't already posted it BUT I can't find it in my gallery so at the risk of re-posting, here is my gal Critique. Buckle up because this girl has got a lot goin' on.
She is the first child of Trenderhoof and Sapphire Shores- however she is not Trender's first kid. Her half-brother, Cosmic Crisp, was born before her. Her birth name is Mona Lila, but she later had it changed to Critique. She grew up barely knowing her father, and mostly in the care of a nanny. Though Sapphire Shores and her PR were able to spin her pregnancy for positive publicity, even garnering support for her by promoting the image of a hardworking single mother, after Critique was born she faded from the public's sight as their attention turned back to more interesting things.
Sapphire Shores is often praised for balancing her fame, career, and family by herself despite sightings of her daughter at events are very slim. The tabloids don't even speculate about who the father is anymore. Which Critique suspects is due to Trenderhoof's influence and reputation. He is able to clear suspicions with his charming smile as well as his job as a journalist, which he uses to justify his somewhat persistent presence around Sapphire Shores and Mona Lila. Also, Trenderhoof already had a family…
And now he had two. Sapphire Shores was pregnant with another mysterious child whose father was unknown. If this child came out looking like Mona Lila, then it would be apparent that the father was the same… and that the brown fur looks awfully familiar… But luck shined upon them with a child heavily resembling Sapphire. (Currently don't have a name for Critique's sibling!) However this 'game' could not last forever, and the more his and Sapphire's children began to grow, the more Trenderhoof felt pulled to this family that he could not be fully a part of.
By the time his affair was exposed to Applejack, Mona Lila was no longer in her parent's lives. She tried to run away so often that Sapphire Shores had 'no choice' but to send her to a boarding school in order to keep the image of a happy home that the public believed in. (This was her manager's idea. Sapphire was reluctant because she didn't want to admit that their home life wasn't as good and happy as her marketing team had even convinced HER to be) For the papers, there wasn't much buzz about this change but it was explained as being best for Mona Lila's education, as traveling with her famous mother had been interfering with her studies. The name of the boarding school she was sent to was not released for her privacy. Being uncomfortable with others knowing who she is, she opted to have her named changed and picked Critique, due to her interest in journalism and knowledge of the arts and culture that she learned being home school and raised in the shadow of a pop star. Due to the limited amount of publications featuring pictures of Critique, and most of the ones the public had access to were of her as a young foal, it was easier for Critique than she expected to transfer to a boarding school where no one knew about neither her nor who her mother was.
Gradually Critique faded even more from public awareness. When Sapphire Shores and Trenderhoof got engaged, after Trenderhoof and Applejack got divorced, the public was in a tizzy. Applejack had acclaimed national recognition as an element of harmony and close friend of Princess Twilight, so many ponies were taken aback that their pop sensation was still in a relationship with this cheating stallion. Though the whole affair was a big talking point for a few weeks in Equestria, it died down with the help of Sapphire's PR and Trenderhoof's connections to the media. The lack of a statement from Applejack tempered the flames as well, as she just wanted to move on with her life and her kids. An official apology and speech prepared and presented by both Sapphire and Trenderhoof weaved a tale of unexpected love blooming between two individuals who felt forbidden from being together. But still, their love for one another was strong and while they tried to stay apart for the interest of their families, they could not overcome their longing for one another.
A moving and well thought-out presentation that certainly stumped many critics, at least momentarily. Dedicated fans of Sapphire Shores gave their support for her to 'find happiness' with Trenderhoof, and to unite their broken family (conveniently ignoring the family Trenderhoof was leaving behind). Equestria's interest in the scandal fell by the wayside.
Critique has since graduated from the boarding school she attended. When it was clear that Sapphire had forgotten about her graduation ceremony, Critique left in the middle of it and never returned to her parent's 'home'. She has kept in infrequent touch with her younger sibling, but they have both become mostly strangers to one another. Critique seeks to deny her heritage and relation to both Sapphire Shores and Trenderhoof. She is sometimes recognized as Mona Lila, but for the most part the public mainly thinks of Critique's younger sibling (who adores the spotlight!) whenever they think of 'Sapphire Shore's kid'.
Wow I didn't intend to write all this when I decided to upload it. I knew Critique wasn't fond of her parents but I never actually wrote out why until just now and I LOVE IT. I hope ya'll think she is interesting too! Before this she didn't have much to do with my next gen 'story' but now that I have a clearer motive for her, I will be able to bring her out more and inject her into the lives of my other next gen kiddos too!
