Trying my luck at doing Inktober for once <3 Just feels like it'll be a nice way to not overwork myself with commissions and owed art if I can make at least a sketch of my own once in a while. Starting a bit late but it still counts!

I feel like this will be a nice way of showing characters I haven't showed in a while, tweaking their designs if I want to, or introducing ones I have never talked about <3

This is Serenada "Athena" Sonnet, or Sonnet for short. Fourth child of Shining Armor and Cadence. Sonnet is a writer and a poet, and studies ancient history of the empire. She's considered a symbol of Wisdom among the citizens, a figure of elegance and stoicism… Although in person she's kinda more bitter and stubborn, and kinda annoying sometimes.

She may come off as very strict and serious (because she is) but Sonnet is a lover of art and very knowledgeable in ancient culture and wishes to bring back old crystal empire cultural traditions that were lost in the years of slavery of king sombra. She sticks to a very formal and old vocabulary most of the time, knows at least 7 different languages including ancient ponish, and will definetely curse you in all of them if you truly make her mad. She also writes a lot of theathrical plays and all different sorts of writing genres.

Sonnet is also trained in self defende and swordspolay, tho I must admit she's better at tactics and strategy rather than brute force. Her forte is fencing, she's very skilled and graceful at it at the same time.

I kinda tweaked her design a little bit, she seemed too… blank? So I added a third shade of white/grey to her mane so she matches the rest of her family kinda, but still keeps her pristine snowhite look she partially got from her grandma Twilight Velvet.

I kinda attempted doing a very soft shading ( uunicornicc show me ur skills pls) but I was divided bc I like clean sketches a lot. So I just softened it up a lot.


Are there any characters you'd like to see again, or are you curious about children I have yet to introduce? Feel free to make suggestions! We've got a whole month ahead of us!
