I decided not to sleep last night and give a shot to character portrait painting using Quill.
Took about 4-5 hours. Referenced a classical portrait painting that was heavy on the chiaroscuro. Was fun to do!
Mane is the weakest part. Need to work on that.
The main painting I referenced was this portrait of a man by Cristofano Allori, a Late Renaissance era portrait painter. Probably the most obvious influence is the dark but rich shadows that blend into the background.
