The pain should have been overwhelming. A part of him knew that he should be crying right now or perhaps blacking out as he felt his bones snapping like twigs. His jaw popped out of its alignment in excruciating agony, as if to drive the point home. Despite this, he stood motionless as the changes consumed his form. He was no longer in control of his own body.

"Or rather what was his body," a part of him thought.

After all, he didnt have a horn. He didnt have ears that seemed to twitch lightly at the faintest of sounds. Ears that continued to stretch out like taffy. He didnt have teeth more at home in a Halloween mask than in an actual living creatures mouth.

He felt himself drool down his chin as his mouth was forced to open wider and wider, his teeth growing longer and sharper by the second. His flattening nose grew wider and stretched out longer in a desperate attempt to contain them. A muzzle. He was growing a muzzle. A sudden pulling on his face confirmed this as he felt his jaw and snout start to extend.

A sudden bolt of energy though his skull pulled the mans thoughts away from his changing face and back up to his forehead. His horn, sharply pointed and still growing, was humming with activity. It reminded him of an electric rail, buzzing with power unseen. The energy continued to grow, spilling out of the horn, as if it wasnt enough to contain it. In fact, he felt this energy spread down his head, searching for some other way out. A burning feeling in his eyes made it clear where it was going to escape from. He wanted to shut his eyes, but they stayed wide open as a purple haze started to pour out. Whatever this power was, it wasnt natural. The man had never thought that there was such thing as pure evil, but somewhere deep down, he knew that's what this was. This energy was simply, unequivocally evil.

Out of the corner of his eyes, though the purple glow, he saw his fingers continued fusion. They had been one of the first to change, morphing the moment hed touched the stone. The nail had already joined together into a black hoof, the skin covered by dark gray fur. His pinkie twitched, slowly retracting back into his hand. He tried to force his view over, to watch as he was robbed of his dexterity, but his neck refused to turn. His focus was totally engrossed by the unearthly glow of the blood read crystal before him.

C- he felt himself say before stopping himself. It wasnt him speaking, but rather someone speaking through him. His mind felt an electric shock as the changes picked up in pace. He had just made a huge mistake. Hed thought of the word. The word this other half of him seemed obsessed over. The word that now consumed him as well. He resisted, trying to regain some amount of control, but his fate was already sealed. He felt himself start to speak again, but this time he was powerless to stop himself.

Crystals

It was like someone was tearing down the mental wall that protected his normal mind from the insanity that was trying to infect it. Bashing it over and over, not with hammers but rather with a single thought. Crystals. Crystals. All he could think about was crystals. Even as he felt his memory erased, he only thought of crystals. His name, his personality, his whole being was obliterated, piece by piece. The obsession wrapped around his mind like a blanket, smothering it out of existence. The man was no more, forever consumed by the corrupting crystals before him.

Sombra. That was who he was. King. Tyrant. Shadow. A cruel, sadistic unicorn. He felt his old memories and personality flood this new body, fitting it like a glove. They had destroyed him. Shattered him to pieces with the Crystal Heart. They thought him gone!

He could not be destroyed. How can one destroy shadow after all? As long as there is light, there would be shadow. And as long as there was shadow, there would be him.

He turned from the crystal, changes complete. The Crystal Empire would be his again, and this time he would rule it for good.
