Here are the next two gaits. Note the change in head and neck position. Unlike in these drawings, a horse/pony that does not know how to 'collect' itself will lean more forward, placing more weight on it's fore-legs and stretching its neck more forward. The ponies in the show do that a lot. Collecting is when a horse holds most its weight on its rear legs and takes a lot of core strength.
I cannot begin to explain how difficult it was to transfer proper leg movement onto a pony leg.
