Description:

With Sunset Shimmer Day 2020 of Equestria Daily drawing near I made a metal embossing of her. I must admit that this is a second try because I messed up the painting of the first attempt.
With the first attempt I had picked a golden embossing foil with the intention to leave the yellow parts of her mane uncolored and paint the red and the red parts of the mane and the orange of the fur with eddings. However two things went wrong in that first attempt. First of all it turned out that the eddings dissolved the gilding of the foil and more importantly the orange of the edding turned out way too reddish for Sunsets fur. So I tried to correct this by removing the too redish orange parts which I had already painted with nail varnish remover. Unsurprisingly the nail varnish remover also removed the guilding of the foil and the whole first attempt looked rather messy as a result.
With the second attempt I made use of the lessons learned from that first failed attempt. First of all I picked a foil that had a layer of copper on it with the copper looking close enough to the orange color of Sunset's fur. After completing the embossing, I used the nail varnish remover to get rid of the the copper layer at every part that would have to be painted with eddings (mostly mane tail and eyes that is) to lay bare the aluminum metal underneath that would not be affected by the eddings.
With the copper layer removed painting the non coppery parts of the figure worked out just fine.
I took several more versions of the image above taken with different lighting and camera settings.
