I think Spike and Twilights character dynamic is my favorite. Twilight is a natural mother and it shows throughout the entire show.
Part of why Twilight is often shown as the voice of reason throughout the show (usually) is because of her experience with Spike. Twilight, even in the beginning of the show was already miles above her friends in maturity, making her the perfect leader.
Twilight and Spikes relationship is the basis and reason for both of their behavior and character.
