One thing that sets Cookie and Syntax apart from a treasure hunter like Daring Do is a lack of enemies or rivals who regularly try to stop them on their adventures, mostly because they prefer setting out in secret and not attracting attention. As such, instead of an Ahuizotl or a Caballeron to clash with, Cookie has the petty taunts of her old school enemy Beryl to deal with, which has no bearing on her and Syntax’s adventures. However, thanks to Syntax, Cookie’s able to better appreciate having a ‘rival’ unconnected to their moonlighting rather than dangerous treasure enthusiasts trying to outdo them at every turn. Besides, years of enduring Beryl’s insults have allowed Cookie to not only weather them, but turn them back on her occasionally, lol
