It was mid-afternoon in the farmlands of Kentucky. Megan Williams, dressed in favorite riding attire, was on her way to the stable after long hours of chores around her grandparents’ farm. If there was something she always enjoyed after a hard mornings work, it was riding her pony stallion TJ.
“Hey TJ! Guess who!” she said cheerfully as she opened the doors. TJ, trying to work down his daily portion of oatmeal, perked his ears and turned his head towards the familiar sound. He trotted excitedly over to her and gently nuzzled her face, tickling her. “Cut it out TJ!” she giggled while patting his muzzle. “I’m happy to see you too!”
Megan fetched a saddle and rein that hung on the wall of the stable, and fitted it onto TJ. TJ smiled as Megan readied him for their afternoon ride. It was a breeze compared to hard farm-work.
“There!” Megan dusted off her hands and pulled herself up to the saddle. “Ready for some exercise TJ?” TJ nodded as he smiled and let out a gentle snort as an answer. “Giddy up!”
The two rode out of the stable, and was greeted by Megan’s grandfather.
“Howdy Megan! Off with TJ again? Don’t be too long!” said her grandfather smiling as they passed him.
“I won’t! I’ll be home in time for dinner!” she waved back.

The sun shined brightly in the sky as Megan rode TJ across the grassy fields. She took a moment and closed her eyes as she felt the sun and wind in her face. She felt free and happy. TJ smiled as well as he glanced up at Megan. To see his owner and best friend so happy was a joy to him.
Boom!
“What was that?” Megan, startled out of her daydream, pulled on the reins and TJ came to a screeching halt. “Thunder? But there isn’t a cloud in the sky.” Megan looked up at the clear blue sky. Even TJ looked up and reached out his right hoof, expecting raindrops to fall any second.
“Huh?” Megan scratched her head. “Must’ve been-“
BOOM!
Suddenly, there was a flash of bright lights. A strong gust of wind nearly blew Megan off TJ. A spectrum of colors filled the sky as a projectile suddenly emerged out of thin air, with a rainbow trailing behind it. Megan and TJ’s pupils shrank and time seemed to slow down as the ‘missile’ streaked across the sky above them and landed with a flash behind a hill just a few yards away.
Megan and TJ stood frozen in place, staring towards the hill were the 'missile' had landed. “What was that!” asked Megan perplexed. TJ said nothing, but was just as perplexed as she was. Megan’s curiosity suddenly took hold. “Come on!”
They rode up the hill and approached the impact zone. Smoke was still rising from the freshly made crater. Stopping a few feet away, Megan jumped off TJ and ran down to the crater, despite TJ being concerned for her safety. As the smoke started to clear up, she looked down at the figure in the crater and her eyes grew even wider.
The 'missile' was a cyan blue pony. With a rainbow mane and wings!
“What in the world..?”
