I've wanted to share this with you guys for a while now. It's my first attempt at drawing ponies that I made 3 years ago!

So, My Little Pony: Friendship is magic ended October 12, 2019 a date that I highly doubt will ever be forgotten.

I haven’t really written anything about the show for a while, especially after its end so I wanted to sit down for a while and just write.

As I have previously mentioned I found My Little Pony sometime in the summer of 2017. My Little Pony: The Movie was being advertised so when I went to the theater to see a movie I saw one of the previews. Now, This really didn’t get me into My Little Pony, I had seen it here and there in toy stores and I didn’t get cable at the time so I never really saw it on TV. When I watched the trailer all I thought was “kewl” and the next day I ended up downloading a Rainbow Dash playermodel for Gmod, Which I ended up uninstalling. So you could say I did dip my toe into the pool of the Brony fandom then, and some will even tell you that’s the day I became a Brony (I blame myself for spreading that misconception) but, it wasn’t.

That September is when it really happened. I was on Youtube when I came upon a channel named Vannamelon. Vannamelon does gameplays as Fluttershy and they are adorable! I really liked the character Fluttershy because she was really shy and I’m typically a really quiet person around others until I warm up to them. Anyhow, the more I watched, the more I wanted to watch the show. Finally I decided to hop on Netflix and give it a watch. I loved it. The writing was amazing, the art style was cute. The characters were relatable, funny, and frankly, kinda’ cool. I found the Bronies not long after I started watching the show and I’ve been a Brony ever since.

Believe it or not I wasn’t always an artist, I had always wanted to contribute something to the fans but I always thought I would make Youtube videos or something. I don’t really remember what exactly got me into drawing ponies. I guess it was just because drawing had always been “my thing.” I’ve always loved drawing, even when I was really little I’d doodle in notebooks. So when it came to drawing ponies I kind of just sat down, looked at a picture of Fluttershy and gave it my best shot. As you can probably see, I did my best. I wanted the eyes to be my usual cartoony lines but eventually, after seeing WitchTaunter’s entry to “Doors 2” (Which is mind blowing because I didn’t even know who WitchTaunter was at the time) I decided to switch over to the one color eyes with no pupils, because they looked cute. I also loved the look of solid black outlines because they made my characters look cartoony, though I did learn later on having super thick outlines wasn’t the way to go.

My OC was something I was really excited to create when I first got into Brony content. Her design isn’t really specific to me (I don’t have pink hair) but I did design her hair to look somewhat like mine. Her coat is reddish-brown because my hair is brown as well (I didn’t want to use dark brown because it was too close to the black outline so you couldn’t really see anything. That’s why if you scroll down to my first pictures her coat is a bit darker.) Her mane is pink for no other reason than my favorite color is pink and I thought it looked kewl. Her mane did start out with 5 points which I later simplified to 3. (You’ll also notice that her mane gets bigger over time, that’s because I love to draw big flowy hair.) Her tail changed as well from being small to a much longer and floofier one. She is a Pegasus because, how cool would it be to be able to fly?! Also, Fluttershy is a Pegasus so I wanted to be one too. Her cutie mark is a paint brush and represents not just artwork, but all art. (Drawing, Music, Literature etc.) All of which I quite enjoy. Lastly her 3D glasses were kind of an afterthought. I was playing around in PAC3 on Gmod and when I put 3D glasses on my pony I thought they looked pretty cool and decided to keep them.

As I’ve said before, I love this fandom. I sincerely it never goes away and I honestly believe it never will. I’ve heard and read tons of great points for why the fandom will never die and I agree, it’s going to be quite a while before this is all over. The chapter has ended, but that doesn’t mean we’ve finished the book.

I was really pleased with the finale; it really tied up everything (almost everything) in a neat little bow. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that last shot where the book closes on a shot of the mane six looking after Luster Dawn. Thank you for 9 years of friendship, and magic, and telling us that friendship is magic. Now go, re-watch the show 15 more times. :)

My Little Pony came into my life at a time when I was going through some personal matters. I think it would have been a lot worse if it hadn’t been there, and I’m thankful for that. I truly am. I’m so happy that I got the chance to be a part of this, even if it was just for a little while, but I’m definitely gonna’ stick around to see what’s next. The people who make the show are wonderful and the people who watch are amazing. I’ve never been a part of something so big. Everyday your creativity astounds me. Whether it’s music, art, or stories the fandom keeps creating and growing. It’s truly amazing. It’s changed my life. I honestly don’t know where I’d be without it.

Thank you.

I’ll never forget.
