Miss Harshwhinny slowly waded through the warm, calm waters of the tropical lagoon. She paused in the knee-deep water and watched the palm trees sway in a ocean breeze. A smile crept across her face as she adjusted the straps of her swimsuit.
The Equestria Games were behind her now. For the last 3 years the Games had been the sole focus of her existence. Now she had some time herself and she was going to take it. Many ponies who'd worked with her on games committee might've viewed her as being nothing but a overly demanding, strict, harsh, overbearing mare on a power trip.
She'd disagree. Yes, she'd been demanding and strict with her staff, and she taken steps to stamp out frivolous changes, and unnecessary revisions to the organizational model. The hardest thing about her job was saying no to good ideas that just didn't fit into the plan that had been laid out by the committee.
It was that plan that she'd been tasked with implementing and seeing through, and while 3 years might seem like a long time she and her staff were making final adjustments just hours before the opening ceremonies. Keeping herself and everypony involved focused on the end goal had meant she sometimes had needed to kick some butts to keep ponies on target.
But now she time for herself. 4 glorious months free from the obligations and responsibilities of running an event that spanned an entire kingdom and had involved tens of thousands of hired ponies and volunteers. She was a hard worker, but when it was her time she partied just as hard.
Spying the beach-side bar Miss Harshwhinny started sauntering toward it. It was only 10am but that was late enough for her. As she made her way she muttered.
"All work and no play makes for a dull pony."
